Vintage 1940s Christmas Grotto at Bletchley Park - autism friendly openings for 2019

December is now less than a month away, so it's never too early to be thinking about meeting The Man in Red himself.

Step back in time at Bletchley Park and experience a 1940s style Christmas Grotto. Father Christmas will be at home in the Library in the Mansion throughout December. Every child will receive a present and have the opportunity to enjoy festive crafts while you wait.

Christmas is an exciting time of the year, but the sights, sounds and festive sensations can be challenging for children with autism or other sensory conditions. On selected dates Bletchley Park are offering tailored autism friendly Christmas Grotto sessions. These sessions, aimed at those with sensory conditions, will take place on Sunday 1st December and Thursday 19th December.

They aim to:

- adjust the lighting level to suit your child

- turn music off if preferred

- provide a specific time slot to minimise waiting time

- keep the festive craft area as quiet as possible

- provide resources in advance including a sensory map and social story

- offer you the chance to discuss any particular triggers for your child with us in advance
