Become a volunteer with Friends Within
Are you interested in giving back to your community? Would you like to expand your skill set, spend time amongst a friendly and supportive team, and provide exciting and invaluable opportunities to adults with learning disabilities and additional needs? Are you available on Wednesday evenings, occasional weekends or both?
Then becoming a volunteer with Friends Within might just be the thing for you! We are currently looking for new adult volunteers who can help to support our sessions and partake in our busy social calendar. We are searching for volunteers who will be a listening ear, can provide positive reassurance, who are fun loving and enjoy things like a lunch in the pub or crafts!
No experience necessary – although experience is very much welcome!
Develop new skills and add to your CV.
Commitment is flexible; be it weekly, fortnightly or monthly, we’d love to have you on the team.
Reasonable expenses reimbursed.
The simple process we follow when recruiting new volunteers is:
1. You complete our application form and send it back to us.
2. You’ll be invited to an informal meeting with a Friends Within group leader.
3. Two references will be collected.
4. We’ll send you an acceptance letter.
5. You must complete the mandatory DBS check.
6. Start volunteering!
Upon joining us, part of your induction will include reading through some of our most important policies and you will be given the opportunity to take part in appropriate training, such as Safeguarding, Health & Safety and First Aid.
